Ingredients of Homemade Cranberry Sauce
1 | It’s 12 oz of (more or less) fresh or frozen cranberries. |
2 | It’s 1 cup of granulated sugar. |
3 | About 1 of Orange peel or lemon zest. |
4 | About of fresh ground black pepper. |
5 | Approximately of salt. |
6 | Prepare of water. |
Homemade Cranberry Sauce cooking step by step
Step 1 | Put aside half of the cranberries.. |
Step 2 | Add the other half to a medium sauce pan along with the sugar, peel and 2-4 tablespoons of water depending on how thick you prefer it.. |
Step 3 | Cook over a low, stir occasionally until the sugar has dissolved and the cranberries have become soft. Normally takes about 10 minutes or so.. |
Step 4 | Turn the heat to medium and cook until the cranberries have burst, about another 10-12 minutes or so.. |
Step 5 | Reduce heat to low again and stir in the reserved cranberries, cook until the reserved cranberries have become soft, about 5-7 minutes. Add 1-2 tablespoons of extra water if needed.. |
Step 6 | Add more sugar to taste, and salt and pepper.. |
Step 7 | Allow to cool to room temperature.. |
Step 8 | Serve when ready.. |
